Liberty Hill ISD Presents 2026-27 Budget Update

The Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees received the 2026-27 budget update during its meeting on Aug. 3, 2026, outlining the district's financial plan for the upcoming school year ahead of budget adoption later this month. The proposed budget reflects a strong financial position while continuing to prepare for the district's rapid growth.

The proposed budget is built on projected enrollment of 10,900 students and an average daily attendance (ADA) of 94.5%. District leaders also anticipate continued growth in special populations and a 99% tax collection rate.

The proposed tax rate is $1.2298 per $100 of taxable value, a decrease from the current year's rate due to state-required compression of the Maintenance and Operations tax rate.

Although the school district tax rate is decreasing, property values set by the Williamson Central Appraisal District (WCAD) may result in some homeowners seeing an increase in their school property taxes. According to the truth in taxation calculation, based on the median homestead value, the estimated school property tax bill may increase by approximately $205 annually, or about $17.12 per month. Liberty Hill ISD is projected to pay approximately $1.31 million in recapture back to the state of Texas during the 2026-27 fiscal year; however, if the district sees an increase in student attendance over the projected amount, this could mean a decrease in the recapture payment back to the state.

Board members also received updates on the district's debt service fund and future bond-funded projects. The next bond sale is expected to prioritize funding for Saddleback Elementary, refunding to allow for additional debt capacity, the transportation facility and renovations to existing campuses. 

The proposed budget and tax rate will be published on Aug. 5. A public hearing and Board vote on both items are scheduled for Aug. 17. If approved, the budget will take effect Sept. 1, 2026. Liberty Hill ISD is grateful for the community's support of Proposition A in 2025, which continues to provide critical funding that helps maintain the district's financial stability while investing in students and staff.
